Inspired by a sunrise hike in the Rimutaka hills, Rapa Rising explores the connection between the visual experience of sunrise and the mental and emotional perspective it can inspire. Drawing on the early morning light creeping over the Wairarapa, this piece seeks to capture how the first rays of the day can shift our mindset _ offering clarity, renewal and a sense of possibility.

Drawing inspiration from the age-old concept of "rose-tinted glasses," the work reflects on the way people often filter their experiences through a lens of optimism, nostalgia, or personal bias, sometimes blurring the lines between what's real and what's imagined.
